Notes:

Randy Johnson was very, very shaky through his five innings of work. Every time it looked like he was steadying himself, he'd throw a bad pitch. He walked a season high four batters and gave up 6 runs. Johnson's ERA has climbed to 4.71.

The rest of the Yankee pitching ( Sturze, Villone, and Smith) were perfect, pitching four scoreless innings.

Johnny Damon had a brilliant day with two home runs, three RBIs, a walk, a stolen base, and a season-high five runs scored!

Gary Sheffield also had a great day, but had to leave in the fifth inning after colliding with Toronto's firstbaseman, Shea Hillenbrand. The incident happened when the Yanks had the bases loaded and Sheffield hit a slow-rolling ball to Toronto's secondbaseman. Trying to get an infield hit, Sheffield flew down the line and crashed into Hillenbrand who was attempting to catch the ball. Sheffield has bruises on his wrist and knee, but he is expected to play tomorrow.

  • This was a major game for Johhny Damon. This game really boosted his statistics and I can hardly wait till he arrives at Boston.

I didn't realize how poorly Josh Towers has pitched this season. I always thought he was a solid pitcher who at least had a .500 record. I wasn't up-to-date with his 0-5 start of this season. He must really hurt his fantasy owners.
