Mets Bomb Small, Yanks Lose Chacon to Injury

Derek Jeter, Bernie Williams, and Johnny Damon all had three hits each- Jeter singled three times and drove in two runs; Damon singled three times and stole a base; and Williams singled, doubled twice, and scored a run.

Small struggled through his fourth and a third innings pitched, giving up four runs on two home runs. The Yankees bullpen, though, pitched brilliantly, holding the Mets hitless throughout the rest of the game.

The Yankee placed pitcher Shawn Chacon ( leg injury) on the DL; his spot on the roster was filled by pitcher Colter Bean.
