Notes:

Jaret Wright was splendid in his third start of the season, pitching six, very effective innings. He only made one mistake ( a fast ball that was hit out of the park by Perez), but otherwise he was very solid. It was just what the Yankees needed from their number 5 starter.

The Yankees bullpen was excellent in four innings of work- Villone pitched a 1-2-3 inning and Myers got two outs in the eighth before giving up a single. Farnsworth came in and pitched 1 and a third innings of scoreless baseball. Rivera was lights out, recording his fifth save of the season.

Jorge Posada's pinch-hit RBI single and Miguel Cairo's pinch-hit RBI ground out tied the game in the seventh inning. In the tenth, Damon lead off with a ground-rule double; Jeter followed with a walk. Giambi moved both runners over with a soft ground ball to the Tampa Bay secondbaseman. Alex Rodriguez and Hideki Matsui hit back-to-back RBI singles giving the Yanks the lead.

Jason Giambi won the American League Player of the Month award, yesterday, for his stellar performance this April. Giambi batted .344 with 9 home runs and 27 RBIs.
