Notes:

Jaret Wright was brilliant through his first six innings of work, but in the seventh he gave up a big two-run homer to Brad Wilkerson and left the game with a runner on base. All in all, Wright gave a solid performance striking out two and giving up no walks. But in spite of his great effort, the Yankee bats failed to support him.

Derek Jeter, Jason Giambi, and Alex Rodriguez went a combined 0 for 9 with 6 strikeouts! The Yankees left 17 men on base.

New York's bullpen also faltered as Erickson and Villone walked a total of 7 batters in just two innings of work!!! A sloppy play by Robinson Cano led to two more Ranger runs (one unearned).

Bubba Crosby left the game after injuring his left leg in the fifth inning while running the bases.
