Yanks Take Early Lead, Rivera Shuts the Door

Johnny Damon rounds the bases after hitting a solo home run to lead off the bottom of the first inning.

Yankees broke out of the door with 5 runs in the first inning, thanks to a solo home run by Damon to lead off, an RBI double by Giambi, a two-run single by Rodriguez, and an RBI single by Terrence Long. The Yanks added their sixth run in the second ining.

Wright pitched well, and evened his record at 3-3. The Yankee bullpen wasn't great (Proctor gave up two runs and Myers walked the only batter he faced) , but Rivera shut the door in the ninth.
