Randy Johnson stepped up big tonight, pitvhing into the eighth inning. Not only did he shut down the Cleveland bats, but he gave the Yankee pen a chance to rest. The Big Unit struck out 5 and walk no one.
Jason Giambi's two-run homer in the 4th inning jump-started the Yankee offense. Derek Jeter went 3 for 4, driving in 3 runs. Melky Cabrera and Miguel Cairo each drove in one run. Aaron Gueil made his Yankee debut, one day after New York claimed him off waivers from Kansas City. He went 1 for 3 with 3 runs scored. Johnny Damon had the night off, but is expected to return to the lineup soon.
